Jenny Craig Reviews

by ex-employee on January 21st, 2012 at 11:03 AM CST
I worked for Jenny Craig up until the end of 2011 and chose to pursue a consultant position with them, because I have a college background in nutrition, have always been an athlete, and weight loss was close to heart when I gained a few pounds during college.

I kinda felt I can share what I know with people, who didn't know much about nutrition and make some cash. Plus, it seemed fun and easy enough to complement my part time internship at the time. I really wanted to work hard and make decent money, which btw you definitely can, because the commission schedule gets pretty rewarding the more people you trick, as I soon figured out, to spend $147/week on a food.

The management staff in the two centers I had the "luck" to work at were the most mean spirited, uneducated, fat and desperate old losers I have ever encountered in any corporate environment. They push you to push clients, and even if you develop sincere relationships with clients and cheerlead them through their own plan and weight loss, they discourage it, because it doesn't bring the most money.

They treat you like you are 4 years old and basically give you a script to tell to all of your clients and ppl, who inquire about the program. Nothing is ever clear: cost, holiday hours, how menus work, nutrition guidelines, you name it. It's a big friggin fog, they try to brainwash you into believing that you are 'helping someone change their lives by charging cool 200 bucks a week on food. Outbound calls are so repetitive and pushy, by the end I didn't even want to pick up the phone and extort ppl. They don't care if you do well, and you are liked, or if you have potential to grow. The dumber you are, the higher the position!

Centers are dirty and run down, computer system is ridiculous and slow, and crashes pretty much every day. Other consultants try to steal your clients and nothing is done. Senior discounts are never given out because no one cares to notice. And the memberships are money mills- they are worth nothing! you pay to come in the center to pay more for food and see an old hag, who knows nothing about nutrition, to tell you u should drink more water and go home and hope u lose a pound in 2 weeks.

Paying those memberships should be illegal. I blew the corporate 'whistle' many times and nothing was done- I quit and quite frankly am ashamed to be associated with a company like Jenny Craig! They r going down the drain pretty soon.

Yes, I would be very hesitant about signing a "Lifetime Contract" with Jenny Craig. I also paid (Big Bucks) for such (misplaced the contract) and was told that I missed the renewal and that it was my responsibility not theirs to keep up with it. Bad business, very disappointed with no courtesy call or anything. Let the buyer beware!

The Jenny Craig diet will work, but it's very expensive. The tough part (apart from shelling out so much money) is to stay strong and actually follow the diet. Jenny Craig advertises that each person receives a personal consultant however in my experience you cannot rely on the consultants to actually keep the appointments they book with you.

My assigned consultant has now missed the last 3 appointments we have scheduled and did not have the courtesy to cancel. If Jenny Craig had been able to consistently deliver the personal consulting they advertise it would justify the high cost of the meals however this just hasn't happened.
